Programme Overview

Wings Trust is an abstinence based therapeutic community for people wanting to be abstinent and move from addiction to recovery. We help people get ready for more intensive treatment and integrate them back into the community.

Our Daapanz registered counsellors employ a range of evidenced based models to help enhance participants wellbeing. These include Motivational Enhancement, 12 Step Facilitation, Cognitive Behavioural Approaches , Mindfulness and Te Whare Tapa Wha

Assessments, individual counselling (while in the programme) and support regarding detox pathways are available.

Groups

  • New Beginnings; what is addiction & how to get the best out of treatment
  • Relapse Prevention; lifestyle imbalance, high risk situations, seemingly irrelevant decisions, warning signs and plans to deal with these.
  • Emotional Sobriety; the functions of emotion both positive and negative. Developing emotional intelligence. Emotions relationship to addiction.
  • Men’s and Women’s Groups; dealing with gender specific issues and dynamics.
  • Process Groups;  facilitated groups with peers offering feedback and sharing on day to day progress.
  • Kapa Haka
  • Yoga and community groups, including: 12 step workshops.

Admission Process and Information

Assessment

Initial Assessment

  • Contact: 09 815 1631 and speak with Carol about booking an assessment.
  • The initial assessment takes about an hour and you are welcome to bring a support person or whanau.
  • The process for admission and acceptance will be explained and support regarding the detox process will be given if required.

  • All participants need to have a minimum of 5 days continuous abstinence prior to admission

Acceptance

  • You will be advised of your acceptance then put on the waiting list.

  • Waiting times vary throughout the year and sometimes this will depend on lining up detoxification beds with the Wings start date so there is a seamless service.

 

Admission

  • Arrive at Wings for your admission

  • A drug screening test is undertaken and the admission paperwork will be completed.

  • You will be taken to the house and the Home Host will go through the Wings guidelines.

  • Groups start at 9am each morning and all residents to be at 43 Walters Rd by 8.30am.
